"Yellow Circle" marks a pivotal piece in Laura Waldusky’s artistic journey, embodying her bold decision to "go big or go home." Begun in 2016, during a period of personal upheaval moving from the Middle East back to the US, Waldusky ordered the largest paper roll she could find and set up on her mother’s dining table. Here, her experimental approach evolved into a meditative process, defined by the repetitive use of colour and line. The work began with a single, off-centre yellow circle, with lines radiating outward, one at a time.
Spanning over three years, Yellow Circle became a deeply immersive endeavour, ultimately covering the entire sheet with meticulously placed lines. Completed in early 2020, it remains a defining piece, showcasing Waldusky’s distinctive method and the comfort she finds in the rhythmic, line-by-line layering of colour.
