Tulip 2 is part of an evolving series inspired by the shifting English seasons, capturing the tulip’s essence through sculptural abstraction. Each piece begins at the tulip’s heart, where the petals unfold and colours expand outward, influenced by the artist’s mood and the passage of time. Once the drawing is complete, it undergoes a transformative process through wet folding, reshaping the petals to bring a dimensional, tactile quality to the work. In this case, its fraternal twinTulip 1 comes from the same drawing divided into two before sculpting each piece independently. This pair is a smaller size that can be easily tucked into spaces.
